Calling all Women – Submit your Business Plan on a Napkin

Do you have a great idea that you think is not only marketable but profitable as well?

Here is an interesting opporunity to make your pitch to a panel of “Angels” and receive funding for your venture.

Competition is intended for growth companies. Ask yourself “Is this a fundable venture”? Eligible teams have at least 50% female ownership and are invited to submit their business ideas not only via a business plan but a 7×7 inch paper napkin. Selected finalists will pitch in front of a judging panel and live audience at the Women 2.0 Conference and Pitch Night on May 10th for a chance to win one-on-one meetings with some of the top venture capital investment firms in the world. Previous year’s prizes were meetings with Michael Mortiz, Sequoia Capital and Tim Draper, Draper Fisher Jurvetson. This year, prizes include a meeting with Esther Dyson.

Here is  my favorite part….  all submissions will receive feedback.  If you don’t win you will at least receive some feedback on your idea or business plan.  According to the Women 2.0 web site

“You have an idea of how to change the world – it’s a pretty great business idea but you have not really tested it out or maybe you already have a beta out. You are driven and curious to know what investors and other entrepreneurs think of this idea. You are eager and keen to seek feedback. You are now looking for more ways to improve your idea to take it to market. You are smart, ambitious, and excited to make a change in the world with your idea. All submissions will receive written feedback from judges”

Melissa is not only inspirational and great business support, but when I've had even the smallest technical issues, even on FB, she was a message or phone call away. Nice to have willing ears, to listen and even better when they can translate and communicate, clearly. Can't be taught.
